Porsche Unveils Retro Liveries for Petit Le Mans
Porsche has unveiled retro liveries for its pair of factory GT Le Mans class entries that will compete in this weekend’s IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship season-ending Motul Petit Le Mans.
The CORE autosport-run Porsche 911 RSRs will carry the iconic design from the Porsche 911 GT1-98, which claimed overall victory in the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1998 and also took part in the inaugural Petit Le Mans that year.
Twenty years later, the blue, red and orange stripes will be wrapped on the GTE-spec Porsches, to be driven by Patrick Pilet, Nick Tandy and Fred Makowiecki (No. 911) and Earl Bamber, Laurens Vanthoor and Mathieu Jaminet (No. 912).
It is the second set of retro liveries to be adorned on factory Porsches this year, following the Rothmans and “Pink Pig”-inspired designs that were on the Manthey-run Porsches at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, where it claimed a 1-2 finish in GTE-Pro.
